UKCR HEAT Humanitarian Operative Course

This course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the risks associated with working in hostile environments while performing humanitarian operations and the measures that can be taken to mitigate those risks.

Course Objectives:

  • To provide an understanding of the definition of a hostile environment.

 

  • To identify the types of risks and threats that may be present in hostile environments during humanitarian operations.

 

  • To provide an understanding of the legal requirements surrounding hostile environments.

 

  • To identify the measures that can be taken to reduce risks associated with hostile environments during humanitarian operations.

 

  • To provide an understanding of the importance of security planning and procedures specific to humanitarian operations in hostile environments.

 

  • To provide an understanding of the importance of personal safety and security measures specific to humanitarian operations in hostile environments.

HEAT Course Assessment

The course will include a written exam and a practical exercise. The written exam will cover the course material and the practical exercise will allow participants to demonstrate their ability to use personal safety and security measures and respond to a security threat specific to humanitarian operations in hostile environments.

HEAT Training Duration

The course will be delivered over five days (40 hours).
