The team has been out and about in the last couple of weeks providing operational support to the NHS. We’ve been utilising our skills to help find additional bed capacity to ensure the NHS can continue to provide excellent care for communities.
Operational support is where the UKCR team excels – our combined resilience, humanitarian and military experience in planning and managing logistics, during covid and international incidents for example means that we can identify and present options swiftly that are efficient and cost effective.
This was a fantastic opportunity for UKCR to lean in and support the NHS during a very challenging period. Providing an additional option for organisations following critical incidents, which which might normally have required the submission of a MACA request, is what UKCR was created for. The team was tasked, deployed, undertook field research and submitted our detailed recommendations, all within 10 days. An epic effort of which I am incredibly proud. On the day I visited them on site, the team had already covered many miles visiting locations and then worked late into the night analysing data and working through options. Well done guys.
